Sending Good Thoughts Your Way

Hi Stampers,  I did this card from a sketch.  I belong to ChicnClique and we do biweekly sketches and I have been a little behind, so next two post will be sketches.  I used Whisper White for the card base,  Daffodil Delight for the tag and Tangerine Tango for the scalloped pieces and Tangerine Tango ink for the sentiment.  The card base is measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" , scored at 4 1/4".  Watercolor Wonder DSP was used for half the card and it was cut at 4 1/4" x 3 3/4". Daffodil Delight was cut at 2" x 4" and the scallop strip for full card measures 1/4" x 4 1/4" and the small piece on tag is 1/4 x 2". I stamped the sentiment from Perfect Pennants in Tangerine Tango, added a ribbon with the new Tangelo Twist (available June 2nd) and rhinestones.  I think it is a refreshing summery looking card.  Stampin' Up supplies used: Stamp set: Perfect Pennants 133230. Card stock: Daffodil Delight 119683, Tangerine Tango 111348, Whisper White 100730 and the DSP Watercolor Wonder (132994) will be available until June 1. Ink: Tangerine Tango126946. Tools and Accessories: Scalloped Edge Border 119882, Scalloped Tag Topper 133324, dimensionals for tag 104430, snail adhesive 104332,  rhinestones 119246 and the New ribbon Tangelo Twist 133669 available June 2nd.  I will really miss this Watercolor Wonder paper, if it is one of your favorites order before June 1st....it is subject to availability.  If you need any of these supplies please click on the catalog in the sidebar and it will take you to my online store.  One of the good things about the online store is that it cuts out the middle guy and delivers right to your door.  If you need any help please contact me at josexton66@gmail.com.  Thanks and don't forget to leave a comment, I love reading them.

Banner Blast

Hi Stampers, I wanted to share another swap card I received at the workshop this past week.  The creator of this card is Beth R.  I have the Banner Blast set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog but had not used it.  This makes me want to pull it out and create.  In the new catalog there will be a set called  Banner Banter that will make a good substitute for the one that was in the Sale-A-Bration catalog that is no longer current.  The punch is also available in the new catalog that will go live June 2nd.  I hope you all are getting as excited as I am about the new catalog, and those of you that have received the new catalog are making a wish list.  Mine is 4 pages long so far. Crumb Cake card stock was used for the regular A2 base card.  Crushed Curry is the bottom layer with sponged edges using Crumb Cake ink.  Pool Party was used for the top layer and was stamped with the Hardwood stamp using Crumb Cake ink and the edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink. Whisper White Twine was used to make the clothesline.  The Banners are from the stamp set Banner Blast that was also in the Sale-A-Bration catalog (not current), but in the new catalog there is a set called Banner Banter (w-134057, c-134060) that will do a card like this one. Each Banner was stamped with a different ink  on Crumb Cake card stock and punched out with the Banner punch ( in new catalog).  The ribbon at the bottom of the card is burlap and some of the threads were pulled to give it the open weave look.  The sentiment is stamped on Crumb Cake card stock with Old Olive ink and edges have been sponged with Crumb Cake ink. It is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog no longer current called See Ya  Later  The sentiment is also stamped lightly with a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Hope you take the time to make some.  Cute! Cute! Cute!  Stampin' Up supplies used:  Card stock:  Crumb Cake 120953, Crushed Curry 131173, Pool Party 122924. Ink: Crumb Cake 126975, Old Olive 126953, Crushed Curry 131173, Pool Party 126982. Stamp sets: Hardwood (w) 133032, (c) 133035, Banner Blast 133551, See Ya Later 133536, Gorgeous Grunge 130517. Tools and accessories: Banner Punch 133519, snail adhesive 104332, Whisper White Twine 124262, 1 1/4" Burlap ribbon 132140 (will be in new catalog). I hope I have made sense and you enjoy making your own.

Happy Memorial Day and Thank YOU!

To our Service Men and Women
To our Firefighters, Medics, and Law Enforcement men and women
I would like to pay a tribute to our service men and women.  This includes men and women in the Armed Services, Firefighters, Medics and Law Enforcement past, present and future.  Thank you for your service to our country and for respecting and upholding our Constitution. I know that a lot of families make big sacrifice's for their loved ones to go off to war and work everyday. Thank you for fighting for our Freedom on a daily basis.  None of you know what you will be facing on any given day and yet you still go out there and do what you are trained to do.  For this I THANK YOU ALL! This hits real close to home for me and my family. I have two nephews in law enforcement and some cousins. My brother-in-law (80 yrs old) just passed away and was a career man in the Army.  My son-in-law John  Harding is with the City of Charlotte firefighters. My father was in the Air Force but I don't remember much about that.  I just saw pictures and sometimes he would share a few tidbits about it.  He was like most soldiers and other service people ...just didn't want to talk about it. Here is a song on YouTube by Tim McGraw,  a tribute to our men and women.  I am proud to be an American and I want to thank each and every one of you for your services to our Country. Hope you have a great Memorial Day.  Shout out to Joyce Lineburger who made the red, white and blue thank you card.  I thought it was appropriate for the Salute to our service men and women.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Hello, Doily (retiring)

Hello Stampers,  This stamp is retiring and I wanted to show you this card that I have been hoarding for over a year.  I saw this card on Tami Whites blog here and she has a video...so go check it out.  I wanted to make more, but this is a little more than I wanted to deal with.  You know, some cards only need to be made once.  LOL!  I used a different color card stock than Tami.  I used Chocolate Chip and she used Basic Black.  The image was stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink and white embossing powder applied and heat set.  Cutting the card stock and setting the Pretty n Pink ribbon was the challenge.  Tami made it look so easy.  This stamp will be retiring as of June 2nd so if this card makes you want it you better hurry and place your order with your favorite SU demonstrator or you can click on the catalog in my side bar.  The card stock Pretty n Pink has retired, but a good substitute would be Pink Pirouette card stock 111351, This list is the supplies I used:

Hello, Doily Stamp 122847
Whisper White Card stock 100730
Dimensionals 1044330
Snail Adhesive 104332
Whisper White Craft Ink Pad 101730
Chocolate Chip Cardstock 120953

Thank you Tami White for sharing this beautiful card!  Also, a special shout out to Wanda Williams for making the bottle cap SU pin.  Too cute! Thanks, Wanda.

Swap Card from Workshop Member

Hi Stampers, this is such a cute card I wanted to share it with you.  I got this in our club swap Tuesday from Ann G. She used the  Brights ink. Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Tempting Turquoise on page 143 of the retiring catalog and page 180 of the new catalog.  The Note Cards and Envelopes 131527 on page 162 of the soon to be retiring catalog are mailable. I love the the bright cheery colors.  Old Olive and Whisper White was used on the front of the card.  The measurements for the card is 5 x 3 1/2 and Envy is 5 1/8 x 3 5/8.  They are page 194 in the new catalog and come in Crumb Cake and Whisper White.  Check them out...to cute!  She popped 3 of the balloon up with dimensionals and free handed the string on the balloons.  Notice the envelopes and how she made them match the card.  The little tails on the balloons were punched from the Owl punch.  I am so glad we have all the wonderful punches and more in the catalog to choose from.  It sure helps make card making a snap. Sorry,  I don't know the stamp set she used but will ask next time I see her.  Thanks Ann,  you rock.  Enjoy!

Sassy Salutations and Coastal Cabana

inside of card

Hi Stampers,  I saw a card on the blog of Garden of Creativity and I liked it so much I wanted to do my take on the card for my monthly swap. Please visit Andrea Ciminos' site and check her card out.  I really like the SU Coastal Cabana card stock and ink, it is such a light and airy color.  Our theme this month is birthday cards for any gender. The base of the card is Coastal Cabana cut 11" x 4 1/4". The next layer is 5 1/4" x 4  of Very Vanilla card stock and was stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp in Coastal Cabana ink.  Then a Top Note Die layer in Coastal Cabana was cut and put in the embossing folder Stylish Stripes and embossed.  The next layer is a piece from Retro Fresh and cut out with Label Collections die.  This was added to card with dimensionals.  Then the oval was cut out with an Oval Die in Very Vanilla and stamped with sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink and was attached using dimensionals. The flowers were stamped with Coastal Cabana using the Petite Petals stamp set and attached with dimensional's.  Added rhinestones to the center of each flower and attached to card with dimensionals. Easy card to make.  Stampin' Up supplies used: Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge 130517, Sassy Salutations 126707 and Petite Petals 133155. Ink: Coastal Cabana 131175, Card stock: Coastal Cabana 131297, Very Vanilla 101650, and Retro Fresh DSP 132993 (retiring June 1). Tools and Accessories:  Top Note die 113463, Oval dies 129381, Label Collection dies 125598, Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder 132174, Petite Petals Punch 133322, Rhinestones 119246, snail adhesive 104332, dimensionals 104330.  Don't forget the inside of your card.  I used the large Oval Die and placed a small Petite Petals flower on a dimensional and attached it to the inside of card.  A rhinestone was added to the center.  Have fun making this card. If you need any of the supplies please click on catalog in sidebar.  If you need any help with ordering please email me.  Don't forget to leave me a comment.

Simple Stems Girls Birthday Card

Hi Stampers, this is the little girls birthday card I said earlier in another post that would be coming soon. We are making this one in our workshop.  I think this one could be a baby card, too.  I used Pink Pirouette Card stock and ink.  This is done on a card base measuring  8" x 4" and scored at 4".  This will fit an A2 envy.  Isn't it adorable!  When using the Simple Stem Stamp remember to turn it over so the longer side is down.  Look at picture for reference point.  I hope you will enjoy making some of these cute cards.  Stampin' Up supplies used: Stamp Set: Simple Stems 133101 retiring June 1, Label Love (w) 130619 (c) 130622. Card stock: Pink Pirouette 111351, Whisper White 100730, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack 130135. Ink: Pink Pirouette 126956. Tools and Accessories:  Itty Bitty Banner cut out in Whisper White 129267, Circle Collection dies 130911, Artisan Label punch 130920, Paper Piercing tool 126189, dimensional's 104430, snail adhesive 104332, rhinestones 119246.  Non SU product used: Scallop punch, 5 mm google eyes, pink ribbon. Don't forget retiring supplies are by availability only and some of these are retiring by June 1st and 2nd.  As a demonstrator I don't usually do away with my retired stamps because I am to new to the job or just to attached.  Go figure!  Maybe one day I will need more room.   If you need supplies please use the catalog in the sidebar to access my online store.   Note: Reason for two pictures one has polka dotted ribbon and the other has plain.  Please leave a comment I love reading them.

OH, HELLO/ But Goodbye to Stamp Set

Hi Stampers,  I was going through some cards that I made sometime ago looking for my favorite ones and found this one.  I made it in a class I took with Wanda Williams a fellow demonstrator.  I really like the card and the stamp set is retiring June 2nd.  It is still available at this writing.  I hate to see it go!  The base of the card is Whisper White with a layered card of Bermuda Bay.  You take the Chevron stamp and stamp it in Bermuda Bay and punch out with the 1 3/8"circle  punch, then take the Itty Bitty Butterfly punch and punch out the butterfly (use scraps large enough to cut circles out) and place the 1 1/4" circle punch over the cut out butterfly. Attach the circle butterfly over the chevron circle with dimensional's and remember to turn the butterfly's on the chevron circles in different directions and place rhinestones in the middle of the butterflies.  I used two different sizes of rhinestones.  Save some of the punched out butterflies for embellishments as shown in picture.  Use dimensional's for the sentiment.   The layered Bermuda Bay piece was embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.  Stampin' Up supplies used:  Stamp Set:  OH, HELLO (w) 131931 (c) 130733. Card stock:  Whisper White 100730, Bermuda Bay 131197 and some scraps of Whisper White. Ink:  Bermuda Bay 131171. Tools and Accessories:  1 1/4" circle punch 119861, 1 3/8 circle punch 119860, Labels Collection dies 125598 (smallest one for sentiment), Bitty Butterfly punch 129406, Chevron Embossing Folder 127749, rhinestones 119246.  Hope you like!  If you need supplies please click  the catalog in the sidebar for my online store.

Quick and Easy Thank you!

Hello Stampers, this card I did for a thank you to my workshop group.  It was a quick and easy card.  As you can see I love to finish off the inside of my cards, too.  The Smoky Slate is a cool color to work with. To compliment it I used the striped DSP from Watercolor Wonder (that will not be available after June 2nd). It has a light stripe of gray in it and the Smoky Slate makes it pop.  For the sentiment I embossed it with White embossing powder.  I left about a 1 3/4" margin at the top of the card to stamp sentiment.   The flowers were punched out with the Petite Petals punch in Watercolor Wonder DSP. It is an 11" x 4 1/4" card base.  Stampin'Up supplies used: Stamp set: Four You 130538. Card stock: Watercolor Wonder DSP 132994, Smoky Slate 131202 and Whisper White 100730.  Ink: Versa Mark 102283, White Embossing powder 109132. Tools and accessories:  Petite Petals Punch 133152, Deco Labels Collection die (largest one) 130102, rhinestones 11924, Snail Adhesive 104332 ,Dimensionals 104430, embossing buddy 103083, heat tool 129053.  Note: When using embossing powder remember to use the embossing  buddy in the area you will be stamping the image,  that way the powder will not stick to places you don't really want it to.  Have fun!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's everywhere! and especially to my Club Group! I saw a card similar to this on April Vicarys blog. I wanted to case it and thought about a card for Mother's Day.  Well......this is my take on the card and I hope you like it.  I used Bird Builder Punch for the leaves. The Oavl Framelits were used to make the vase.  I used the 5th one from center and cut just a little off of each end. Of course, if you use the flowers like I did you don't have to cut but one end.  The flowers will hide the top one portion. You can tell to,  that I use any excuse to use Modern Medley DSP and I just happen to have a small strip laying on my workstation and there you have it...I had to use it! Stampin' Up Supplies used: Card stock: Very Vanilla 101650, Modern Medley DSP 126926, Pear Pizzazz 131201, Basic Black 121045 and Real Red 102482. Stamp set: Flower Shop (c) 130942 (w) 130939 and Teeny Tiny Wishes (c) 127802 (w) 128748. Ink: Real Red 126949. Tools and Accessories: Bitty Butterfly Punch 129406, Elegant Butterfly 127526, Pansy Punch 130699 and Bird Builder 117191, Dimensionals 104430, Snail adhesive 104332, Pearl Basic jewels 119247, Multipurpose liquid glue 110755, Oval Framelit dies 129381, Stripes Embossing folder 123128 and embossing folder with print on it for the butterfly's to give them a little added texture. I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Embossed Wax Paper Technique

Hello Stampers, I found this card in my stash as I was cleaning out my stamp room and thought I would share it.  We made this in my workshop a while back and  as you can tell by the stamps.  They are from the summer celebration catalog from last year.  I just liked the technique so much I thought I would share it.  It is so simple and easy to do you will be amazed as I was.  I just couldn't believe this would look like this when I got through playing around with the embossing folder.  I hope you will take the time and play with one of your folders in this manner and let me hear from you as to how and what you thought of the technique.  I think learning new techniques can be lots of fun, but on the other hand for me they can sometimes be a disaster.  That is one of the reasons I wanted to share this with you, cause it actually turned out the first time I did it.  Have fun with it! I saw this technique on someone's site about 7 months ago and I can't find my notes on it, so thanks to the person that shared this technique, I really enjoyed it.

Embossed Wax Paper Technique using Madison Ave and Vine St EF

Stamp set: Madison Ave and Vine St. Embossing Folder (EF).
Card stock: Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Whisper White, White Glossy for the EF emboss technique.
Ink: Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and if you use a saying to go across leaves, use black to make it pop.
Accessories: Tangerine Tango ribbon, Pool Party button, smallest of the Floral Framelits for the flower. Sliver of Tangerine Tango C/S to go in button.

Measurements: Base card 5 ½ x 8 ½
Tangerine Tango layer 5 ¼ x 4
Old Olive Glossy layer 5 1/8 x 3 7/8
Small Old Olive layer 2 3/16 x 2 7/8
Whisper White 2 x 2 13/16

Embossed Wax Paper Technique

1. Take a piece of wax paper 4 ½” x 5 3/4" (you want it a little bigger than the embossing folder) and emboss it with your favorite embossing folder.
2. Take a piece of glossy card stock 4" x 5 1/4", shiny side up on top of a piece of copy paper or something comparable to that, and place the embossed wax paper on top.  Cover the glossy card stock and wax paper with copy paper to protect your iron from wax.
3. With your iron on “cotton” no steam, iron the paper in a back and forth motion a few times.  I counted to 12 while moving the iron back and forth.  You don’t want to burn the paper.
4. Remove the copy paper and wax paper (throw the wax paper away you won’t be able to use it again.)
5. Then apply the water based ink of choice to your glossy card stock with a brayer or sponge in a circular motion until you have the desired look you want.
6. Wipe off the glossy card stock with a Kleenex to get rid of any access ink.
7. Now you are ready to apply it to your card of choice.

Simple Stems Flower Done a Little Differently!!

Hi Stampers, I couldn't think of a way to say that one of the flowers from the stamp set Simple Stems was used to make a boys birthday card.  So, just to tell you, it is done a little differently.  I wanted to call them mopheads, but that just didn't sound right. I wish I had Brian King's (Stamp with Brian) gift for gab.  I am sure he would have come up with a cute name.  Well, anyway I used Birthday Basic Designer series paper with Very Vanilla card stock and several other colors of card stock and look what I made. I used various circles from SU circle framelits and nestabilities to get the narrow margin on each circle.  Then when I stamped the birthday sentiment I couldn't make up my mind which color to use so I used all three. When placing the circle on top of the card make sure you have only half of the circle off the cardstock.  If you go any higher it will not fit an A2 envelope.  I kept an envelope on my work area so I could make sure I wasn't going to high.  Also, watch the spacing of the flower when stamping so you won't have a big empty space. This started out with 3 flowers and I left to big of an open area so I added another one.  I will be making these in my Workshop Group this month.   A girls card made with this will be coming soon. Our theme is birthday cards.I like it and hope you do too!  The card base is 4" X 8" and scored at 4".  The circles you will need to play with to get the look you like.   The DSP was cut at 3 3/4" X 3 3/4".  Stamp sets: Simple Stems 133101, Itty Bitty Banners 126257.  Card stock: Gumball Green 126840, Summer Starfruit 126830, Bermuda Bay 131197, Very Vanilla 101650.  Ink: Gumball green 126861, Summer Starfruit 126991, Bermuda Bay 131171. Tools and accessories: Bitty Banners famelits 129267, Circles Collection 130911, Snail Adhesive 104332.  Non SU items:  Nestabilities circle dies, google eyes 5 mm. Enjoy!  Please leave a comment.  I do answer back.

Chalk Talk Eastern Elegance Card

Hi Stampers, This card was semi-cased from Anne Marie Hile.  I was looking for something to do with Smoky Slate and as usual was on Pinterest when I saw this card. Please visit Anne Marie's blog to see the difference in our cards.  I used Eastern Elegance with Smoky Slate cardstock and I just love it.  You can't see the rhinestones but they are on the dark yellow 3 in a row.  I really liked the way Smoky Slate looked with this paper and now it is retiring.  Regular size A2 card base and each layer is cut 1/4" difference in size.  Chalk Talk was stamped in Smokey Slate and the sentiment For You was stamped in Crushed Curry.  Whisper White Organza ribbon was used across the middle at the top of the half sheet of DSP cut with the Apothecary Accents die.  Please go take a look at her blog, it is delightful.  Supplies used: Card stock:  Smoky Slate 131202, Whisper White 100730, Designer Series Paper Eastern Elegance 130131 (soon to retire). Ink: Smoky Slate 131179, Crushed Curry 13117.  Embellishements: Rhinestones 119246, Organza Ribbon Whisper White 114319, dimensionals 104430, snail adhesive 104332, Apothecary Accents die 127003.  Don't forget the inside.  I cut another Apothecary die in Whisper White and adhered to the inside.

Flower Shop, Petite Petals Card Cased

Hi Stampers, this sweet little card was cased from Dawn Griffith  at Dawns Stamping Thoughts. Click on her name and it will take you to the video she created.  She received a card from someone in her upline and changed it up a bit. I really liked it so much I had to case it.  I made this for my workshop folks as a thank you to them for their orders several months ago.  I don't think my cutting along the top of the card is very good, but I did try.  You will see on Dawn's video what I am talking about.  Dawn is a pro at cutting. And remember don't forget about the inside of the card.  It is important too! The supply list is on her site as well.  She used Crumb Cake as the base and it is cut at 4 1/4" X 11 and scored at 5 1/2".  The front piece of Whisper White is cut at 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  It is flush on the sides.  Stamp sets used were Petite Petals and Flower Shop and stamped in Strawberry Slush ink.  I chose a different sentiment from Simple Sketched (hostess set) and I am going to miss this set very much.  I don't know if it will make the annual catalog coming out in May, but one can always hope.  I hope you like and will go to her site and watch her video, Dawn is so talented and I just love going to her blog everyday and seeing what she is up to.  Hope you can make the time to do so!  Thanks Dawn!
