My New Toy !

In an earlier blog post I shared that I got a Silhouette Cameo for my birthday and I have really gone crazy over it! I went to Scrapbook Creations Shop in Spartanburg the other day for a class. Thanks Anita for being so patient with me.  It was so much fun and she validated a lot of things and showed me how to do a bucket load of things.  If you are ever in the Spartanburg area check them out.  It is a beautiful store with a little cafe attached. I have done a few vinyl things but they have been given away.  I love this image and the thanks and thank you one.  Doesn't take  much to make a card when you have these. Hope you like.  I used Pumpkin Pie and Real Red Card stock by Stampin" Up!

Boutique Borders Thank You!

This is the card I did as a Thank You to my Morning Star Stampers! I wanted it to look a little fallish.  Pumpkin Pie to the rescue! The base card is  4 1/4" x 11" in Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie layer is 4" x 5 1/4" and the top layer of Whisper White is 3 3/4" X 5". I used Black Staz-on to stamp the Boutique Border and colored it in with Pumpkin Pie Marker.  This was a fun project and I think it just so cute! The sentiment came from stamp set called Big News! It is up to you how you want to color in the design.  If you will notice I did the lines different just a little bit. On the inside I finished mine off with a border and colored it the same color..forgot to do this on the one's I sent out. Products used are:

Cardstock: Whisper White 100730, Pumpkin Pie 105117. Ink : Black Stazon 101406, Pumpkin Pie Marker 105115. Accessories: snail adhesive 104332.

Quick and simple card and did not take to much product to make it and it was fun to do.  I got my coloring on with this project and I usually don't like to color that much.

Make Your Own Tissue Paper!

I wanted to make some gift baskets for my little friends to give to their teachers.  I didn't have any fallish  tissue paper and I saw a project by Valentina Brown where she had made some for a baby gift. So, I said why don't I make my own.  Here it is..... Monday was the 1st day of Fall and they were going to give the teaches some apples and caramel dip. Very appropriate, huh!  The little containers I chose from the Dollar Tree had pumpkins on them, so this made it easy to decide what to use on the tissue.  I chose stamp sets Fall Fest and For All Things. They were stamped with Tangelo Twist and Early Expresso.  The Hello Fall was also stamped on a Whisper White Circle and layered on Tangelo Twist cardstock. Didn't they turn out cute!  I had some Black and White ribbon that is non-SU and I tied the bows to hold the paper together.  I also sprinkles some Werthers  Caramel Apple Candy around on the top of the apples and caramel (they were individually wrapped.  I think this turned out to be a cute Fall gift. Hope the recipients liked them.  It was a lot of fun making them.  Get creative and make some for a friend, preacher, teacher, nurse, doctor or just because someone done something nice for you.

Fall Sampler

This is the Fall Sampler we made at club this week.  One of the stampers came up with this ideas and we all wanted to make it.  You will see some non-SU supplies on it and some that are retired.  It is always nice to reaquaint your with some oldies but goodies.  The cardstock was Early Expresso, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla and newsprint from 2 years ago.  Various framelits from different companies were used and the Halloween DSP from last year.  I just wanted you all to see the beautiful work that we all did.  I think these are such a cute way to display your punches and art work.

It was really clouded the day I took the picture and I am not the best photographer to say the least.  But I try.   I hope you like it.  Enjoy!

Happy Stamping,

Easy Kind Koala Card

Front and inside of card
I really like this little bear and I had just gotten this paper in and wanted to try and keep to fall colors and this is what I came up with.  It needed to be simple and easy.  I got this Confetti Celebration DSP in my last order and thought why did I order this! Well.....it really goes great as a light fall color with crushed curry but there are so many colors you could use with it.  The strip of DSP would probably have popped a little more if I had put Basic Gray behind it.  The second one I made I put a rhinestone in the center of the flower.  It is fun to just play around and see what happens with different embellishments.  For the flower on the inside of card I used a black marker and huffed it and stamped it to the corner.

Products used are:
Stamp Set: Kind Koala 134360
Card stock: Confetti Celebration DSP 133692, Crushed Curry 131199, Whisper White 100730, Basic Gray 121044.
Ink: Black Momento 132708 for image
Markers: Smoky Slate Blendabilities 131005 this is a set and was used for inside of ears, Smoky Slate marker 131898, Tangelo Twist Marker (2014-2015) 133669 (this is a set) Basic Black marker 100082.
Tools and Accessories: Deco Label Framelit for inside of card 130102, Rhinestones 119246, Tangelo Twist  Ribbon 133669, dimensionals 104330, snail adhesive 104332.

After completing my blog post I decided to go back and put a Basic Gray piece behind Confetti Celebrations.  You be the judge as to which one you like the best.

If you would like to purchase any of these products please click on the catalog in the sidebar and SU will be glad to send your order right to your door.

Curvy Box Santa

When I made the pumpkin you saw on my blog Saturday, it made me want to do a Christmas one.  So...here it is!  These are so fun and easy to make.  I used Real Red, Whisper White and Basic Black Card stock.  The Glimmer paper was cut with a nestabilities and a square of Basic Black was cut to go in the center to make the belt buckle.  When you place the piece of black to make the belt, just cut a little over the width of the curvy framelit and then trim to fit.  A white Strip of Whisper White was used down center (fake fur) and the 1/2" circle punch was used to make the buttons.  Teeny Tiny Wishes was used for sentiment. The silver cord is some I had on hand and is non-SU.  This will hold a good bit of candy. Yum!  Products used were:

Stamp set: Teeny Tiny Wishes wood mount - 128748
Card stock- Real Red 102482, Whisper White 100730. Basic Black 121045 and Glimmer 135314
Ink: Real Red 126949
Tools and accessories: 1/2" punch 119869, Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die (Holiday Catalog page 11), snail adhesive 104322, Stick Strip 104294

Curvy Box Pumpkins

side view
Top view
This project came together so quick and easy that I had to look a couple of times to make sure it was complete.  The Curvy Keepsake Thinlits Dies makes crafting a special little gift for that special someone a breeze.  Cut two 6" x 6" pieces and if using paper with pattern make sure you have it going the same way.  You know what they say about plaids and strips...matchy, matchy! LOL! One is cut from Cajun Craze and the other is from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The leaves are from Old Olive and I used Bigz Autumn Accents Die to cut the leaves.  The leaves were then run through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossiing folder.  Linen Thread was used as the embellishment and sentiment was from For All Things and stamped in Early Expresso.  I liked the pumpkin plain but I wanted to amp it up a little, so I went hunting on Pinterest and found a sample done by Amy K here. She took a punched out oval and used it to lay on the box and sponged Early Expresso ink to dab down side of oval in graduated intervals to make it look more like a pumpkin.  I will let you be the judge if you think mine look like pumpkins.  The handles were cut from the curvy box thinlit and glued to the handles.  I cut the banner end by hand.  The leaves and banner were placed on pumpkin using glue dots. I see more of these little boxes in my future.  If you need any of these products please click on the catalog in sidebar.  Thanks for looking.

Products used:

Stamp set:  For All Things 135155 (Holiday Catalog page 41)
Card stock: Cajun Craze 119684, Pumpkin Pie 105117
Ink: Early Expresso ( for sponging and sentiment)
Accessories and tools:  Curvy Keepsakes Box Thinlits Dies 135853 (page page 11 Holiday Catalog), Bigz Autumn Accents Die 127812 (in Annual Catalog page 232), glue dots 103683, Sticky strip 104294 (page 204 in Annual Catalog), snail adhesive 104332, Linen thread 104199.

Thinking of you Fall Card!

Second in my series of Fall cards is just plain cute and simple.  Using one of my most favorite stamp sets For All Things.  You will probably find this is going to be used quite often.  The cardstock used to cut the scalloped circle is Cajun Craze.  I think this color reminds me a little of the Really Rust we use to have and was my all time favorite.  Good fallish color!  Then I cut a circle of the Color Me Autumn DSP, a circle of Mossy Meadow and then the Very Vanilla to finish off the layers.  Then I stamped the leaf from For All Things in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I cut with the Banner Framelits and stamped with Cajun Craze.  Glue dots and dimensionals were used to put the leaves together and on the cars and then embellished with Linen thread.  The inside of the card was stamped with the leaf in Crushed Curry twice.  I really like to finish off the inside.  As an alternative you could put a strip of the DSP across the circle.   Can you tell I am ready for Fall, already have my candy corn.

Products used for this project:

Stamp Set: For All Things ( Holiday Catalog page 41)
Card Stock: Cajun Craze 119684, Mossy Meadow 133676, Very Vanilla 101650 and Color Me Autumn 135820 (Holiday Catalog page 41).
Ink: Cajun Craze 126965, Mossy Meadow 133645, Crushed Curry 131173.
Accessories: Circle Framelits 130911, Banners Framelits 132173, Linen Thread 104199, dimensionals 104330, glue dots103683 and snail adhesive 104332

Last of My Birthday Presents to Share!

The present I have been waiting for arrived yesterday and I am going to play with it as soon as I post this.  I had told my husband and stepdaughter that I had been wanting one and a friend of mine is getting one too!  Hopefully, we can learn together. We talked about it and then Pam called me to ask me what it was all about and we left the conversation at that.  Next thing I know I am getting a ( drum roll) Silhoutte Cameo for my birthday present from my husband and stepdaughter and family.  Yeah!!! I took everything out of the box yesterday and just looked at to let it sink in and I told myself, self you will play with this mighty tool tomorrow. That is my plan and if anyone out there has pointers don't hesitate to email me or comment and let me know what they are.  LOL!  What a gift and what a lot to learn! Thank you Bob, Pam, Megan, Makayla and John (you to Maggie the dog)!  I see lots of wonderful things being created and ya'll need to pray for me and that I don't break it first try.  My fingers are tingling and itching to get started.  So, one more thing to say....this has been the best birthday ever!  I hope you all have one as great as mine has been.  When I learn how to do something I will share it.  Thanks again Pam for spearheading the gift buying!!!!!

Happy Playing and Stamping,

Wonderful Fall Gift!

This beautiful jar of fall potpourri was given to me for my birthday by Ann and Bill Gordon today at breakfast.  We went to IHop and had a very yummy breakfast and wonderful conversation.  I wanted to share this with you because Ann is such a creative and thoughtful person and Bill is her wonderful sidekick.  I love receiving gifts like this!!! Also in the bag was a beautiful card that Ann made.  We didn't know a year ago if we would have Ann and birthdays are a wonderful way to celebrate life.  She survived cancer and chemo treatments and is now free. She saw her new oncologist today and they were really pleased with her progress.  Our workshop group, Morning Star Stampers are very grateful she is able to come to our meetings and participate in full with us now.  She was the demonstrator for this group and had to give it up due to the type treatments she had.  I was the lucky recipient of the group and we have lots of fun together.   Thanks Ann for all your input and willingness to help with any project big or small.  Isn't the card beautiful and I am the lucky recipient of this lovely card.  We will be celebrating Ann's birthday in a couple of weeks.  Now...I will need to get out all of my fall stuff and get busy decorating.

Happy Stamping,  Johnnie Sexton

I met Andrea Cimino through our demonstrator group, Chic Pics.  She has been so helpful in giving me advice on my blog and answering any questions I might have.  So, I wanted to share some swap cards she sent me that she swapped at convention and shared some with me without getting anything in return.  She is so talented and I would like for you to visit her blog when you have time Garden of Creativity blog . She is the Mom to 3 little boys and you know what that involes, yet she handles her time to make these beautiful cards I am going to share.  Thank you so much  for all you have done for me and sharing your beautiful handmade art work. Big thanks and hugs! Please visit her blog and leave her a comment and you can leave me one to.  I like hearing from you all and I will answer you back.  She does video's and gives great details on her projects.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my blog today and I will be sharing two really special gifts I got for my birthday over the next few days along with my fall cards. Stamping and sharing is so much fun and there are a lot of wonderful people out there that like to make other people feel good and I am lucky enough to have some of those wonderful people in my life.  Thanks!

Cards of Fall!

I wanted to do a couple of days with Fall cards.  It is certainly in the air and is my favorite time of the year.  Although, I have to rake the many leaves that fall they are so beautiful to look at when they turn colors.  So, for the next couple of days you may see Fall cards on my blog.  These two are similar but not the same.  I made a few variations on them.  See if you can tell the difference.  On one of them I stamped the leaves and cut them out with framelits.  They are the ones with the white edge. The other one I took cardstock in Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow and cut them out with the framelits.  I also, with the Mossy Meadow stamped it off and then stamped on the Whisper White Cardstock.  On the card with the stamped leaves that are cut out I used Old Olive for the green in this one and I stamped it off , too.   Don't forget to finish the inside of your card.  I don't always take pictures of the inside of my cards but I do stamp something to do with the theme of the card.  The one on the right has a larger sentiment layer than the one on the left.  See which one you like the best!
The one on the left leaves from cardstock and cut with framelits and on the right stamped and cut with framelits.
Product used:
Stamp Sets: For All Things 135155, Fall Fest 135194
Cardstock: Crushed Curry 131199, Blackberry Bliss 133675, Mossy Meadow 133676, Whisper White 100730
Ink: Crushed Curry 131173, Blackberry Bliss 133642, Mossy Meadow 133645, Old Olive 126953
Accessories: Fun Fall Framelits 135856, Linen Thread 104199, Stampin' Trimmer126889, snail adhesive 104332, dimensionals 104330

Gift Box Punch Board Video! and Specialty Paper!

I thought this would be a good time to show a video on the Gift Box Punch Board, so you can make an informative decision about buying one.  Mine is on its way and I am so excited.  It has measurements for Imperial and Centimeters.  It has a score blade tool, score extender handle, and reverse punch for making the slits for closing the box.  It has measurements for making 15 different boxes. Make it and decorate it to whatever occasion you need.  I can't wait for mine to arrive.  I love to make boxes.  The other video will show you about the Under the Tree Specialty Paper.  Have fun watching.  Please click on the catalog in the sidebar if you need any of these products.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Gift Box Punch Board is on page 5 of the 2014 Holiday Catalog item #135863. The Under the Tree Specialty Paper is on same page and item # is 135825.

Oh, Happy Day Saraburst !

Today is my birthday and I wanted to share something with you that makes me happy and having Angie as my Upline makes me very happy. This is a bag that my upline Angie Kennedy-Juda shared with us. It is made with the soft subtles paper stack. It is decorated with the Starburst Stamp set using the framelits that go with the stamp set.  This makes it so easy to stamp and cut. You can purchase this in a bundle at a 15% savings rather than buying separately. I used Pool Party ink to stamp the sentiment.  It is really a nice sized bag.  Any color of paper will do just make sure you match each side for the band will look right. Added a rhinestone for a little bling and the doily makes it pop.  All the instructions for this bag are listed below:

Tip: If using designer paper with a directional pattern, be sure to score both

Instructions for bag: ( It’s helpful to read through all instructions before beginning.)
1. Punch scalloped edge along the side with the 1” scored section (at bottom edge of picture)
on both pieces of Designer Paper.
2. Fold along all scored lines with a Bone Folder. Cut flaps as pictured.
3. Fold the scalloped edge over the outside of the bag to form the cuff and secure with SNAIL
Adhesive. Tip: try not to put adhesive over the score lines, it will fold easier.

the bag pieces. Adhere this to the non-scored section of the other bag piece (right side to
wrong side) matching the top scalloped edges and side edges. Apply adhesive to the ½”
flap of the other bag piece and adhere the same way.

Take on a card I made earlier!

I was cleaning out some extra card kits I had sitting around and decided to finish this one off a little differently than the one I posted August 26th.  I placed the banner in the middle of the card and stamped the dots from Perfect Pennants on the top with Hello Honey ink instead of using DSP and the flowers are placed differently as is the rhinestones.  The DSP is from Moonlight paper stack DSP. The products are listed below that were used on this project.  Really easy card to put together.  I finished cleaning off my desk and made 12 cards from extra kits I had sitting around.  That is a good feelling.

Inside of card

Stamp set: Perfect Pennants 133230, Remembering Your Birthday 131350
Cardstock: Hello Honey133678, Blackberry Bliss 133678, Whisper White 100730. Designer Series Paper: Moonlight DSP Stack 133701.
