Treats for Valentines

This treat bag and Monster Valentine are from last year.  Time ran out on me last year and I didn't get to use these little treat bags and the cute boy and girl monster candy holder cards You can buy any type of treat bag and do what you see in the picture.  I punched out some hearts, xo's, love and then stamped some with my Valentine stamps that I got a long time ago.  You can substitute anything you have to make these bags.  Stampin' Up has come out with a mini treat bag thinlit you can purchase.  It comes with a star, heart, bow and two words and several other small thinlits that you can die cut on you Big Shot.  This item is in the Occasions Catalog that just came out and is good until June 2, 2015. Item number is 137547. The Thinlit die can be purchased from my online store  by clicking in the sidebar and setting up an account and have it delivered right to your door. The little Monsters cards are so cute and I wish they were still available.  It is a lot of fun to make things from kits because everything is all there for you.  Hope everyone has a weekend and is getting ready for the super bowl!

January Paper Pumpkin

I really like the Paper Pumpkin kit this month.  If you have not subscribe to the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit you might want to reconsider or just do it.  Check it out here! It comes with everything you need to make the project minus the tape.  And the other neat thing is that it is delivered right to your door and you can stop it at anytime.  You will love them and you can also buy extra material each month if you want to do more of the project that came that month.  I have really liked the ones I have received and have been getting them now for about a year.   Well on with the project!!! This kit came with 24 bags and all the stuff to make the candy holders and you supply the candy.  Neat!! I did change up the twine they sent.  The one in the middle is the one that came with the kit.  I used Whisper White and a red that I already had.  They were a lot of fun to make.  Watch this video to see how easy it is to make these little treat bags.  I will have some other treat bags from last Valentine season in the next blog post.

Pictogram Punches Card Cased

I also saw this card on Pinterest and wanted to case it.  Jackie Diediker is the artist for this card. Check her out on Pinterest.  Base Layer is Strawberry Slush 131295. Then cut a piece of Wild Wasabi 108641 to 5 1/2 X 3 3/8 and layer the Subtles Background DSP 130135 cut at  5 1/2 X 3 1/2.  Cut your Deco Labels Framelit 130102 (3rd from center) and stamp vase with Rose Red ink 126954 with dauber and the leaves with Wild Wasabi marker 131002, huff it and stamp.  Then stamp striped heart with Rose Red and the other heart with Blushing Bride 131172.  The center heart of bouquet is punched from Strawberry Slush card stock.  The one in sentiment is cut from the Subtles Background DSP 130135 and the I and U are stamped in Rose Red ink.  The Wild Wasabi layered under sentiment is cut at 2 7/16  1 5/16.  The Whisper White is cut at 2 1/4 X 1 1/16.  Hope this will help you create some wonderful cards and don't forget to visit Jackie at www.stampinjackie.blogspot.com and see what she is creating.  I would never have thought to put this color combination together but it works beautifully together.  On the inside of the card I used the largest of the Deco labels.  Have fun and thanks for stopping by.

My Favorite Valentine Card from Last Year

You're Just My Type

This is my most favorite card from last year and I wanted to share it with you.  If you own a typewriter stamp and heart punch you can make this card.  It was so much fun and so easy to do.  I have given you the instructions as to how the card was constructed.  Have fun!

Stampin' Up supplies:
  • Stamps: You're My Type 125650 (retired)
  • Ink: Real Red 126949, Staz-on Black 101406 pg. 165 annual catalog
  • Card Stock: Real Red 102482, Whisper White 100730, scraps of Whisper White and Real Red.
  • Accessories: Scissors, Clear embossing powder 109130, Fashionable Hearts Embosslits pg 188 in annual catalog, Deco Label Framelits 130102 (for inside card layer), Dimensionals 104430, snail adhesive, heat tool 129053
Measurements:

  • Card base – 4 ¼ X 11, layered piece for front is 4 X 5 ¼.

Constructing Card: (Please read instructions all the way through before starting)

  • Fold and crease card base, stamp image on layering piece with Black Staz-on ink, make sure you stamp it towards the bottom of layering card.
  • Cut out hearts with Real Red using embosslit folder. You can put hearts through any embossing folder. Set aside.
  • Ink up Staz-on pad (needs to be juicy) and stamp image on scrap Whisper White paper and sprinkle clear embossing powder over the image quickly and heat set.
  • Cut this out with scissors and don't worry about the little paper gizmo image (it is to hard to cut out) because you have stamped it on the card. After cutting out typewriter that you have embossed, stamp your saying and put dimensionals on the back and layer over already stamped image on card.
  • Take hearts and place them where you desire. The one on the sheet of paper (that is in typewriter) has a dimensional on the back. It is your call on how you want them arranged.
Happy stamping,
Johnnie Sexton

You & Me

This is a card I fell in love with as soon as I saw it on Pinterest by Deb Valder.  She is such a talented paper artist.  I didn't have the bow punch or saying she used, so I just pulled out what I had.  It will be a little different from hers.  Not fully cased. Started with Basic Black, Whisper White, Calypso Coral and DSP Stack Neutral.  The Hearts were die cut on Big Shot with #3 & 4 die from center of set.  The bow was made with Calypso Coral card stock cut into 2 ovals using the 1  3/4 X 7/8 oval punch and fold over and use glue dots to put ends together.  Cut a 1/4 each strip to go around center of bow.  Then cut a strip just a little longer than the bow and flag the ends and glue dot the bow to the strip.  The sentiment is from last years Countless Sayings 2 photopolymer set stamped in Calypso Coral ink.  The ribbon is the Calypso Coral Stretch ruffled ribbon (retired).  I used the# 5 large heart from center to make one in Whisper White for the inside of the card.  The Whisper White layer was embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder to right before the ribbon and left the rest smooth for the sentiment.  I actually stamped the sentiment first then embossed.  I just wish I had a better camera.  Maybe the Easter Bunny will bring me a new one, LOL!  Hope you enjoy and please leave a comment.  I enjoy reading what you have to say.

Box of Assorted Cards!

This box is on Chic'n Scratch 12 days of Christmas, day five and I wanted to do a box of cards that looked a little more like Spring.  So, I went to my paper stash and found Sweet Taffy.  Then I needed to figure out what stamp set to use and came up with Kinda Eclectic, it had not seen any ink since I bought it in August.  Well...the color was coming together but the style of card was not.  Then the light bulb came on and I went to Pinterest and saw Shannon Jaramillos card and thought this is it.  I did use the same sentiment set just used different sayings.  That  is how this project was born!  I made six cards two with each saying I chose from Sassy Salutations stamp set.  I hope you like.
Products used are all Stampin' Up except the rhinestones.

Stamp sets:  Kinda Eclectic 135350, Sassy Salutations 126707.  Card stock and DSP:  DSP Sweet Taffy 133693, Tempting Turquoise 102067, Whisper White 100730, Kraft Paper 12 X 12 133674.  Ink: Daffodil Delight 115667, Tempting Turquoise 100814, Tangerine Tango 111834,
Accessories: Rhinestones(non SU), these were colored with Blendabilities Markers Coastal Cabana dark 131000, Daffodil Delight dark 130998, Calypso Coral dark 130996. Multipurpose Liquid glue 110755, snail adhesive 104332, dimensionals 104330, Circle Framelits for the front of box 130911 and I used #6 &7 from center of stack.

You can get the box band and label from the 12 X 12 paper.  I chose to use another color for my label.

Please visit www.mychicnscratch.com for Angie's box directions found under the 12 Days of Christmas and Shannon Jaramillo on Pinterest. Thanks ladies for your creativity and sharing.

Baby Girl Welcome Card!

I couldn't leave the girls out since I had all the stuff laying on my work table.  So, I thought make a baby girl card before you clean up and here it is.  Maybe someone will need it soon.  I am sorry the picture didn't turn out as I wanted it to.  I had plenty of light I think my camera needs replacing.  I used Petite Pairs for the Welcome Baby sentiment and stamped the bow from Something to Say Stamp set. The inside of the card was finished with an oval  in Whisper White and several Crisp Cantaloupe bows were stamped at the bottom.

Stamp sets: Petite Pairs 122497 for sentiment, Something to Say 134030.
Card stock: Crisp Cantaloupe 131298, Lullaby 133695 retired, Whisper White 100730. Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe 131176 Accessories:  1 1/4 Circle punch, 1 3/8 Circle punch, Heart border 133784 (for hearts), Crocheted trim (retired), dimensionals 104330, snail adhesive 104332, glue dots for hearts and trim 103683, 1 1/14 circle punch 119861, 1 3/8 circle punch 119860, Oval framelits 129381 (used this for the inside of card.

I hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by.  Johnnie Sexton

Note:  I really don't know how to get the word out so, I thought I would add a note to this post.  All my customers use my online store that is listed in the sidebar of the blog.  This way all your product will be delivered to your door and you can use your credit card and keep up with what you purchase. I don't have a group anymore and this was the way some of them wanted to do it.  This helps me and I don't have to worry about delivery and what not. This also gives me more time to create.  Hope everyone understands.

Welcome Baby Boy Card!

I have a friend that needed a baby card for an upcoming baby shower and this is what I did for her!  I just love the Something To Say Stamp set cause it has the framelit dies to go with it. Makes it easy to cut the cute little onesie out!  The DSP Lullaby is retired but take a chance if you like it and check Stamin' Ups clearance rack.  You can do this by going to my online store, click shop now at the bottom of the page and then click Clearance rack in the left hand column.  Just that easy! The inside of the card was finished with an Oval framlit die, 2nd from the largest one and little hearts were glue dotted on. I think it looks good to finish the inside similar to what you are using on the front.  Just my opinion.

Products used:

Stamp sets: Petite Pairs 122497 for sentiment, Something to Say 134030.
Card stock: Coastal Cabana 131297, Lullaby 133695 retired, Whisper White 100730. Ink: Baked Brown Brown Sugar 131174 Accessories:  1 1/4 Circle punch, 1 3/8 Circle punch, Heart border 133784 (for hearts), Coastal Cabana Stretch Ruffle Trim 130024 retired, dimensionals 104330, snail adhesive 104332, glue dots for hearts and trim 103683, 1 1/14 circle punch 119861, 1 3/8 circle punch 119860, Oval framelits 129381 (used this for the inside of card.

Valentine Heart Bags

These cute little heart bags are from the Silhouette Store.  They are so cute and easy to put together and the most wonderful thing about them is you can make them the size you want them to be.  They are made with Real Red SU card stock and two different sizes were made. The large one is 8 1/2" by 10 1/2" and the small one is  and the small one is  6" X 10 1/4".  They have perforated sides makes it easy to fold and you only need to tape one side and then fold in the bottom and slip in the tabs.  Easy Peazy! They will hold a lot of candy, so be careful choosing your size!  LOL!  Have fun playing and stamping and just crafting.

A Birthday Gift For A Friend!

I wanted to do something special for a very dear friend of mine and since she makes her own cards I thought I would  do something in vinyl. It started with an 8 X 10 picture frame, 8 X 10 Whisper White card stock, Black 651 vinyl and a split monogram bought from the Silhouette Store.  I sized the monogram and added the names and it turned out great. We have known each other since high school ( I will not tell the years)  and she is a great friend to all my sisters and their families.  We get together at her house to swim, eat, make gingerbread houses, bake and just talk.  She is always there for us.  I hope she will have a place to put the gift.  She has a beautiful home filled with love.   The Silhouette Cameo machine has been wonderful to learn and I am still in the process of getting it right.  Whew! Lot to learn.  I hope you will leave a comment. We LOVE you Harriett!

Box for your Valentine!

Can you tell I love 3D items.  Boxes and bags are one of my favorite things to make.  This box is already pre-constructed.  It is called Decorative Window Gift Boxes.  There are 6 Kraft boxes to a bundle for $4.95 and the number for item is 132146 in annual catalog pg 200. The uses for this box are endless and if you go to Pinterest you will find more than what I have done.  Love the site, very addictive!  For this project a bow was die cut from Gift Bow Bigz L die (pg 233) in Brights Color Collection page 185.  I love Polka Dots for Valentine's and bows! The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White twice  in Real Red ink 126949 and punched out with the Label Bracket punch 132153 on page 220. The sentiment is from a retired set called Tags 4 You and I just can't part with it. I used some gold string and put in between the labels and glued them together.  Fill this with shredded tissue paper and candy.  This has been a real hit with my friends and family.  Thanks for stopping by and if you need any of the product please visit my online store by just clicking the catalog on the right sidebar.

A little Bag of Love!

This bag is also one that my upline designed for the 12 Days of Christmas and I changed it to suit the occasion I needed.  I have a friend that loves the colors Black and Vanilla together.  So, I wanted to make her a little goodie bag.  I used some retired DSP.  I'm trying to clean out some of my paper stash...it is hard to do.  I admit I have been hoarding! You can get two of these out of one piece of 12 X 12 paper.  You cut the paper to 11 X 5 and score the portrait side at 1 1/2" and then turn to landscape side and score at 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 10.  Use the bone folder to score the lines gently.  Cut up to score lines and remove one little square in the corner.  Add sticky strip and adhere together.  Use Crop a Dile to add the holes at the top because you will be going through several layers.  Angie has a video on her site for you to watch.  It is Day 10 of the 12 Days of Christmas.  I used Basic Black card stock 121045 page 183 and Very Vanilla 101650.  The Decorative Label punch 120907, was used for the love sentiment. Thanks Angie! Check out her site at  www.chicnscratch.com.  As you can see I filled it full of wonderful chocolate kisses!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great New Year! Sweet Treat Box

This little box is so cute and can hold quite a few sweets for Valentine's.  It is easy to change up the colors for any occasion you need a little treat holder.  I used Real Red  card stock 102482 for the lid and two of the hearts.  The hearts were die cut from the Hearts Collection Framelit set 125599 on page 231 of annual catalog.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes W 128748 or C 127802 on page 18.  The Modern Label  and Word Window punch were used to place the sentiment on page 222 & 220. The dotted DSP was from some paper that was laying around calling my name and I just had to use it.  The Bow was from some chiffon ribbon just begging to be used and a little red twine was used to tie the hearts on.  I shredded some red tissue paper and put in the box and loaded it with candy. The idea for this box came from the 12 Days of Christmas my upline designed.  I just changed the paper.  Please visit her site www.mychicknscratch.com and you will see the directions to make this box.  Have fun making this box.  It was so easy and Angie gives such wonderful directions and there will be a video for you to watch.  I do not have the equipment to do videos and love listening to her.  I hope you enjoy!  Thanks Angie for the all the lovely ideas. Please visit my online store for any product you might need.  Just click on the catalog in the right hand sidebar.  Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Valentine Bag Card

I found this card in my stash and wanted to share with you!  This is a simple card made from a bag from dollar store.  You take a decorated bag 10 3/4 X 6 3/4 (you can use any bag) fold it at 4 3/4 from the front to the back because of seam and glue it down.  Decorate the folded over piece any way you want.  This one was layered with a piece of Real Red SU card stock stamped with the grunge stamp that looks scattered.  Then the green strip is a retired piece of card stock from SU.. It measures 1 X 5 5/16 and stamped with a paisley stamp retired from SU (anything can be used). Then it was layered with a chipboard heart that was run through the Xyron machine and covered in Dazzling Diamonds.  The saying was stamped from a retired stamp and cut apart.  The other heart small heart is also chipboard and covered with a piece of the bag paper and sponges edges with green ink.  The chipboard tag was done the same way and February 2014 was typed on the computer.  White grosgrain ribbon was tied around the red layer and the chipboard heart was put on with dimensionals. A chain was used to put the chipboard tag on. For the inside a piece of Real Red Card stock was cut at 5 1/2 X 4 3/4 (this gives you enough to cut the tab.  Layered with Whisper White and sponged with Real Red ink.  Holes were punched in tab and 3 pieces of grosgrain ribbon was  knotted in holes.  The Real Red card stock was stamped with the grunge stamp and then layered with sponged white piece.  Great for sending a thank you or pictures to share with someone.

Hope you like and will make you some.  It is so simple and easy and you can make a ton of them for friends and family.  I think it was 12 bags to the bag for $1.00.  Happy Stamping, Johnnie
