Gifts for Secret Pal!

Both grandaughters are doing Cross Country this year at their school.  One is in 6th grade(1st time for her) and the other is in 8th grade and she has been doing Cross Country for 3 yrs now. At the beginning they draw names for a secret pal.  Each Tuesday (day of meet) they bring a little candy and a bible verse of encouragement to the secret pal.  I helped Megan last year (1st time they did this) and we had a real good time  doing the packages together and choosing candy, so this year we have Makayla to do for too!  We find our Bible verses and then we decide on the candy and MawMaw comes up with the packaging.  The colors for the school are Navy and Gold.  That is the theme I went with in choosing the packaging.  I hope you are inspired by these pictures.  It only took  a little time.  The punched flowers were done with Stampin' Up punches, the Work of Art Stamp Set was used.  Let me know what you think.  Beth thanks for helping me find some of the right Bible verses.  It was a big help. The fry boxes were so easy to do and notice I punched holes in the top edge and tied bows in one and just pulled some ribbon in the other.  We did initials of the runners on bag toppers. You can use shapes for the Bible verses.  And you know it was no hardship to buy the candy cause we get to eat the leftovers! Yeah!  Hope this will inspire you when you have to make something like this for someone. Have fun!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!  Johnnie

Beth's Workshop Swap Card

This is the last of the workshop cards for the theme, Anything Goes for the month of August.  Beth doesn't always get to meet with us because she lives in Spartanburg, SC.  She works at a college there and tries to get with us as much as she can.  This stamp set is retired.  I love what Beth has done with this card. She used Old Olive, Crumb Cake cardstock and ink.  She sponged around the edge of the top layer as well as the sentiment.  I hope you like it as much as I am glad to be a recipient of the card.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Perfect Pennants

This Perfect Pennants card caught my eye on Pinteterest and I changed a few things around with the supplies I had.  Thanks Cindy Hall...your card was truly inspirational.  We did this in a workshop the other day. Everyone seemed to really like it.  I used different centers for flowers and a strip of the DSP for the top of the banner instead of stamping it.  Don't forget to finish the inside of your cards.  That is what makes them even more special to see. I also used Hello Honey instead of Crushed Curry.  Items used on this card were:
Stamp set: Perfect Pennants 133230
Cardstock: Hello Honey133678, Blackberry Bliss 133678, Whisper White 100730. Designer Series Paper: Moonlight DSP Stack 133701.
Ink: Blackberry Bliss 133642
Accessories: Rhinestones 119246, dimensionals 104330, snail adhesive 104332, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack 133787, Trimmer 126889, Arrow Embossing folder 132187, Banners dies 132173.  If you need to purchase any

File Folder Cards

These file folder cards are so quick and easy to make.  I was looking at some I had made last year when the Envelope Board came out and decided that the new Motley Monsters could be used for this along with the stamp set Fall Fest.  These 2 sets are from the new Holiday Mini that will be activated August 28th for our SU customers.  It is well worth looking at.  I decided to use this cute face on the pumpkin because it makes him look so smug.  He looks like he knows something we don't. Then when contemplating the inside of the card the faces where chosen.  Cardstock of choice was Basic Black and Sahara Sand.  For the second file folder card from the same Designer Series paper and stamp set I used the leaves.  This set of stamps has a matching set of framelits called Fun Fall Framelits. Can be purchased in a bundle which gives you a 15% savings.  The cardstock on this file card is Tangelo Twist (new in color), Sahara Sand, Basic Black and Whisper White.  Ink used was Sahara Sand, Tangelo Twist and Crushed Curry. Makes for some cute cards and the inside finishing makes the card even better. Measuremetns for making the card are: Card base is basic card 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and score at 4-1/4.  Trim off a 1/2 from one side of the card this will be card front. Layer your Designer series paper 5-1/2 x 3 -11/16 before you punch.  Then put the corner of your cardstock in punch board at the edge of the little cylinder you see inside the punch and punch, then move the cardstock over to the 3" inch mark and punch.  Turn card completely to other side and do the same thing.  Decorate it your way.

Product used on these cards are:
Cardstock: Basic Black 121045, Tangelo Twist 133677, Whisper White100730, Sahara Sand 121043
DSP: Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper 135819 available to our customers on August 28th.
Ink: Memento Black 132708, Tangelo Twist 133646, Crushed Curry 131173, and Sahara Sand 126976.
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes 128748, Fall Fest 135194 to be released on August 28th to our customes. Holiday Mini is a must. You will love all the goodies in it.
Accessories: Punch Board 133774, Circle Framelits 130911, 2-1/2 Circle Punch, 2-3/8 Scallop circle punch, 2" circle punch 133782, 1-3/4 circle punch 119850, paper trimmer 126889, Big Shot 113439, snail adhesive 104332, dimensionals 104330, Fun Fall Framelits 135856 to be released August 28th to our customers, and Linen thread 104199.

I don't have the equipment to do videos, so I like to watch YouTube for video's and they have a great one from Angie Kennedy-Juda on how to use the punch board to make a file folder card and others but check her out here..  This will help you with all your measurements that I have given you above.  Very clean, precise video.  Please check out Angie's block too.    If you need any Stampin'Up supplies please click on catalog in sidebar and it will take you to my online store.

Anything goes Swap!

Our workshop met yesterday and our theme was Anything goes, your favorite set of stamps retired or new. Well, this is what they came up with and I don't have the details on the cards but wanted you to see them. On Ann's card notice in the left hand corner of the envelope she stamped a nest to coordinate with her card and I don't know what framelit she used. It is non -SU.
Ann and Joyce
Johnnie and Harriett
Joyce used the five way flower and it is a cute and bright card. Harriett used the  stamp set Polka Dot Pieces.  For my card I used Lovely as a Tree.  It will always be my all time favorite.  I used a retired embossing folder.  Can you tell I am ready for fall.
inside of Linda's card
I still have one to come in.  Beth will send hers later and I will post it. They all did a beautiful job. Linda used Swallowtail butterfly and Summer Silhouettes.  My camera doesn't do it justice.  Thanks everybody for your contribution this month.

Gift Card Holders!

This card holder pattern is so versatile.  You choose whatever DSP or card stock you want to use along with the stamp set of your choice.  Here I chose Perfect Pennants and Christmas Messages ( this is set will retire on August 28, so hurry to get your set it is awesome). This pattern I got from Angie Kennedy-Juda on ChicnClique a group I belong to.  Angie is my upline! Check her out here, awesome site.
Deck the Hall card product used:
Stamps: Christmas Messages (w) 131790, (c) 131793,
Ink: Cherry Cobbler 126966, Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler 119685, Whisper White 100730, Regals DSP Stack 130139 and Glimmer Paper 135314. Accessories: 2-3/8 Scallop Circle Punch 118874, 2" Circle Punch 133782, Scalloped Edge Border 119882, Cherry Cobbler Striped Grosgrain Ribbon 134554, White Bakers Twine 124262, Sticky Strip 104294, dimensionals 104430, Simple Scored Scoring Tool 122334. For the Blue one I used most of the tools listed. The DSP is Marina Mist from Subtles DSP Stack 130135 and ribbon is Marina Mist Chevron 130016 , Marina Mist Card stock 119682 and the Foil paper 132178 (pg 193). I did stamp two of the Make a Wish and cut the "a" out with the 1/2" punch 119869. The Cutting measurements for this project are: Whisper White: 10 x 3-1/4.  Score on landscape side at 4" and 8 ".  The Whisper White Square is 3-1/4 x 3=1/4.  Cherry Cobbler or Marina Mist card stock is cut at 7-1/2 x 3-1/2 and score on landscape side at 1/2" and 4".  DSP is cut at 3 x 3 and Glimmer Paper or Foil is punched with the 2-3/8 Scalloped circle punch. The Deck the Halls was close punching with the 2" circle punch but turned out okay, Instructions for putting it together: (Please read instructions all the way through before you begin.)
1. Score the Whisper White card stock on the landscape side at 4 & 8.
2. Score the Cherry Cobbler or Marina Mist card stock at 1/2 & 4.
3. Fold both of them on the score lines.
4. Punch the Cherry Cobbler or Marina Mist card stock with the Scalloped Edge Border Punch and add to the inside of the gift card holder.  I always cut my a little longer so I can trim the edges.
5. Add Sticky Strip to the sides (leaving room to add the gift card). Lay old gift card down so you can see how much room you have to before taping.
6. Add adhesive to the 1/2 side of the Cherry Cobbler  or Marina Mist card stock and fold to make pocket.
7. Add DSP to Whisper White card stock and add to front of gift card holder.
8. Add Cherry Cobbler or Marina Mist Ribbon.
9. Stamp image with Cherry Cobbler or Marina Mist ink and cut it out with the 2” Circle Punch.
10. Add it to a Glimmer Paper or Foil Paper 2-3/8 Scallop Circle with a Dimensional.
11. Pierce one of the scallops and add White Bakers Twine and tie it around the Cherry Cobbler  or Marina Mist Ribbon.
12. Your Gift Card Holder is complete!  Thanks Angie for the beautiful idea!!!!

Mustache and Masculine

I have been wanting to do a mustache card ever since I saw this in the book and the neat thing about it...there is a framelit to cut it out.  Yeah!  Again, it is the wonderful combination of black and white.  You just can't go wrong with this combinations.  The Designer Series Paper is Back to Black.  Love this combination.  The bow tie is from a celebration set (retired).  Sorry about that, but it just made my card.  I wanted to use the shoe that went with it but it didn't work  as well as the bow tie. I also used an embossing folder that is now retired (wasn't thinking could have used a different one) for the black strip across the middle of the card.  If you need any of these supplies used please check out my online store.  Thank you! Burlap and Blooms Simply Created Wreath

This wreath kit was in the Celebrate the Everyday catalog that is now retired.  So you ask......Why am I showing you this now?!!  Well, the catalog ended in June and several of my friends  bought it and never put it together until now. I wish I had taken a picture of the 3 of us putting it together....we were hilarious.  The first thing was when the directions told us to glue tips and put them together and we just kept reading it and reading it and trying to figure it out and to be honest it was plain as to what we were to do we just didn't understand it.  So, when all else fails and you don't get it then go to You Tube. Watch the video on it and Walla you have a wreath. We wrapped out burlap sparingly and that way we would have some left over for a bow.  I hate the colors don't show as well as I would like, they are very rich looking.  Calypso Coral, Doffodil Delight, Soft Sky and Smoky Slate.  Cute buttons to put in center and some brads.  We all had a cute wreath when done.  Thanks for coming by.  Leave a comment and have a nice day.

Yee-Haw New Photopolymer Stamp Set

Angie Kennedy Juda's photo.

The NEW Yee-Haw Photopolymer Stamp Set

This is the new Yee-Haw Photopolymer Stamp Set that Stampin' Up just released.  This will make a great set to have for your little buckaroos birthday cards.  Item number is 138107 and you can purchase it from my online store.  Click on the catalog in sidebar.

I have heard some people say the photopolymer  stamps don't work for them, but I have loved them from the beginning.  They say they puddle on the stamp and then mess the image up on the  paper.  Well...this is what I do when I pull out a new set of polymer stamps.  I clean them with stamp cleaner before I ever use them and I also do this with any other rubber stamp sets I buy.  In other words I take the NEW off of them in the beginning.  I hope this tip helps some of you that have been struggling with this issue.

Happy Stamping,   Johnnie Sexton

Wetlands! and Basic Black!

You can never go wrong with Basic Black and Whisper White card stock. Stamping' Up has so many images you can use this way.  This particular set comes with 3 sayings and 3 images. All three images have been stamped on this card.  Makes for a great masculine birthday.  I did this card in a workshop class and really enjoyed making it. Product used Basic Black card stock 121045, Basic Black ink 126980, Whisper White Card stock 100730, Circle Framelits  130911. Just an easy peazy masculine card.  Don't forget to decorate the inside as well.  I use the little chick image for the inside corner. Please visit my online store to purchase this product.
