It's All About the Horses

Megan and Ratchet
Makayla and Gigi
Well!  I took some time off from stamping and drooling over the new Holiday Mini PDF! and went to watch the grand girls and friends make an arena and horse back ride.  Megan is 13 and a very determined young lady and she wanted an arena close to the house, so she, along with Mother, Makayla (sister) and friend Cade got to work.  I believe her Dad helped some get her started, but he doesn't have much time on his hands.  I think they did a marvelous job and will share some great pictures of them.  I didn't get any of them actually making the arena...I just sorta watched that part.  Oh!  Forgot PawPaw helped spread the sand..can't leave him out. The horses are very well trained and just beautiful.  They have four in all and had some friends come ride with them. Cade just supervised and stated he had the best seat in the arena sitting on the barrel.  His young sister, Shayna (2 years old) thinks she is just as big as the other girls and can do what they do. They were a lot of fun to watch and listen to while they made plans for the horses to do certain things for them. Marley is learning what horses is all about and is just a little dubious about riding, but I think she has done a great job of overcoming her fear.  I didn't get a picture of cousin Shelly riding my camera battery went down just as she was trading off  Shayna to someone so she could ride.  Fun was had by all!  I know this is a bit off the norm for me to share family but the girls are so talented and I just wanted to show them off.  Hope you enjoyed!
Shayna riding with the big girls! Megan is one of her best friends or should I say devoted doer of whatever Shayna wants!
Cade with best seat in the arena or so he says!

The Christmas Sampler

This is the Christmas Sampler everyone made at the Christmas in July workshop last week.  This Sampler was designed by Ann Gordon and with a little help from me we put one together for each of us and then made the kits for the workshop.  I think it is adorable.  Some non- Stampin' Up products were used but most of it is Stampin' Up product.  The Crown we doubled it and put a small piece of dimensional behind it to keep it from going flat.  The trees and stars next to it are non- SU and so is the leaves and berries in the bottom right hand corner.  Ann wanted to personalize the sampler so letters were bought and painted with Cherry Cobbler marker.  As you can see we used the Mosaic punch and stamp set, the pennant punch Boho Blossom and leaves from the bird punch.  Pine cones are from an SU retired set and the scallop circle punch was used on two of the squares.  Card stock used was Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Silver Glimmer and a little of the Chocolate Chip and Daffodil Delight  was used.  I hope the details are right on the supplies but the most wonderful thing is that you can use most anything you have in your craft collection. Ann's niece, Jenise Bagley,  sent her a Valentine Sampler in February and this is the idea she came up with from that gift.   The frame came from the Dollar Tree.  Thanks Ann and Jenise!  We loved it!

Christmas in July Workshop continued!

These 2 cards were  by designed by Beth Ross for our workshop.  We all love Pinterest and she probably cased them to some degree but most of the time she sees an idea and changes it some and goes with it.  Thanks for the lovely cards.  The Midnight Muse  Card stock card used the Wonderful Blessing stamp set with Smoky Slate card stock and the silver glimmer paper.  Circle framelits were used to cut the shapes. On the Merry Christmas one the sentiment is from Sassy Salutations in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla card stock.  "Be of Good Cheer DSP" was used for the octogon shapes made with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder and paper was cut with the Hexagon die. Bakers Twine was used to go around the cards and tie a bow. Really great cards.  Thanks Beth!

The next two cards were made by Harriett Allen, Beth's sister!  Both are great card makers. Harriett is really crazy about the gingerbread anything.  She loves doing cards with them.  I don't have any details on these two cards but I know she used the Scentsational Season set with dies.  I just love the way she makes the little gingerbreads dance on her card. I made this picture a little larger so you can see the bows and how she
has them at an angle.  I hope you have enjoyed the Christmas in July cards and many thanks to everyone that participated in making cards.  Tomorrow I will have the sampler that everyone made.   I hope you will take advantage of the Christmas Stamp holdover.  These are still available until August 28th and then the new Holiday Mini will be out.

Christmas in July con't.

Joyce's cards
Ann's cards
These were some of the other cards that were brought as kits to our Christmas workshop. Two very talented ladies with great ideas.  Notice Joyce used the Triple Time stamp technique and it looks wonderful.  The other one she used the Star Stamp set  with Joy stamped in the middle and used framelits for shapes.  I really liked both cards.  On the right are Ann's cards and I didn't get a very good shot of these.  Ann used some music paper and Night of Navy with the Gold paper in behind the music sheet.  Some of this was non-SU.  Quite beautiful though!.  I really need to get another camera.  One day!  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy was used on cards to the best of my knowledge.  Thanks Joyce and Ann they are beautiful cards and I look forward to sending them out to some special folks in December.

Christmas in July Workshop!

Last Tuesday we had our workshop and the theme was Christmas in July! We made some other things that I will be show casing in the next couple of days. These two cards are the one's I made.  I cased them last year from Pinterest and since the stamps were held over I made them this year.  Can't wait for the new Holiday mini to come out.  On the Winter Frost Card with tree I used the Evergreen Stamp set and saying.  I stamped the solid tree in Smoky Slate stamped off one time and then the sentiment in Island Indigo over the top of it.  The star is cut with SU star punch from silver glitter paper.  The tree and sentiment were stamped on the die cut from Apothecary Accents.  The piece of Winter Frost DSP was cut with same framelit that is adhered at the bottom.  Silver 1/8" ribbon still available in the annual catalog was used for bow.  This was layered on an Island Indigo card base.  The Ornament card was made with Cherry Cobbler card stock, and Whisper White card stock.  The ornaments were stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and Old Olive ink and the sentiment was stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Last years Christmas Washi tape was used and the Silver  1/8" ribbon was used to hang the ornaments.  The Ornaments are from another held over set called Christmas Collectibles and the Merry Christmas was from More Merry Messages.  I don't have the names of the stampers that made the originals but thanks to them for sharing them on Pinterest.  All the stamps are still available until August 28th and that is when the new catalog goes live for our Stampin'  UP customers.  If you need any of these supplies please click on the catalog in the sidebar of blog and it will take you to my online store.   More cards to come plus 3D project we made. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

3 x 3 Cards and Holder Cased

Valentina Brown gave me this idea and I like it so much that I plan to make a lot of them.  Thanks, Valentina for allowing me to show this project.  Valentina is a very talented card and bag artist.  Please click here to view her site. Love the name of her site it is so cute! It is so easy to make and will make some great treats for people placing orders, birthdays, thinking of you or just because.  If you like the idea and want to make some email me for the instructions. Simple, no fuss once you make one you will want to make a  lot more.  This will hold about 8-  3 x 3 cards and envys.   For the outside of card holder All ABloom DSP paper stack was used and left over cardstock was used for the cards, Whisper White and Pistashio Pudding ink and several punches.  This was just a really fun project.  As you can see from the sides I used the left over circle that was punched to decorate both sides.  No waste!  Punches used were: Artisan 130920,
Bitty Butterfly 129406, small oval 120908, scalloped oval 119856, 1 1/8" circle retired,
119868, 1 1/4" circle 119861.

Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set was used for sentiments 127802 (c). Label Love stamp set 130622 (c) was used for one card and the outside of the bag.  White Grossgrain retired ribbon was used along with some linen thread.  Rhinestones were used for embellisments 119246. As I said above please email me if you want directions for the box. I have enjoyed this project so much. Thanks again Valentina!

Work of Art Thank you...AGAIN!!

Well...I was sitting here thinking what could I do next for a project and this is what happened.  I had the Moonlight Designer series paper stack sitting on my work area and some Hello Honey card stock and ink from another project.  I think you have all figured out by not that Work of Art is one of my all time favorite stamp sets.  It is so versatile...it can be casual or made to be elegant.  Your choice! So, I made 3 different styles.  The swoosh is kinda angled in two of the cards and the other one is a little more centered. The nice thing about the swoosh stamp is it only had to be inked one time and then you stamp three times.  If you want light at the top then stamp the bottom first and go up with stamp and if you want dark at the top then start at the top and come down. Sooooooooo easy to play with!  The Thank You is from another go to stamp set I like Another Thank You.  I love the different size thank you's in this set.  The Blackberry Bliss paper and ribbon are very rich looking and look great with Hello Honey.  For the inside I used Whisper White card stock and a strip of the Moonlight to finish it. Listed below are the supplies used to make the cards. If you need any supplies please click on the catalog on my blog and it will take you to my online store.  SU will deliver your supplies right to your door.  If you need any help please email me.

Thank You Cards

These Thank You notes are from a kit called Watercolor Wonder Designer Note Cards and Envelopes that I got from the retired catalog.  I was sitting here wondering what type of thank you I wanted to give to my workshop group this month and turned from the computer and these caught my eye (they were blank of course, not my eyes..the note cards, LOL!).  So, I pulled Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Marina Mist and Memento Black inks and got busy.  The Thank You is from the Another Thank You Photopolymer stamp set.  Qucik, easy peasy cards to make and they are so cute.  I really like this photopolymer stamp set.  A must have!  These cards are 5 x 3 1/2 with envelopes.  This kit is no longer in the catalog but there are some really cute kits in the new catalog.  Check out pages 196-197 for yourself. These always come in handy for a quick card when you don't have much time.  It seems like I can't keep enough Thank You's on hand.  I always have someone to thank each week for a kindness they have done or shown. Products listed below can be found in my online store, just click the catalog in the sidebar.

Kind Koala Thanks

Isn't this the sweetest little koala bear.  He looks like he just can't wait to tell you thanks or thinking of you.  I wanted to do a card with him since I got him and today was the day to play.  I had workshop yesterday and we did the Christmas in July.  I needed a break from Christmas. Will be showing you the beautiful cards that were shared in that workshop at a later date.  They were just absolutely beautiful cards.  This card was made with Strawberry Slush cardstock and the All ABloom Designer series paper stack.  I used the black marker to outline the bear and not use the flower and wording on the stamp. The  sentiment is from the photopolymer stamp set Another Thank You.  A wonderful set to have in your stash.  The Boho Blossom punch and retired Bitty Punch Pack.  On the Koala Bear I used Baked Brown Sugar ink and stamped it off once using the small swoosh stamp from Work of Art.  Love that stamp set.  If you need any of the supplies listed please click on the catalog in sidebar and it will take you to my online store.  Happy Stamping, Johnnie
